Morse-country

Dad and I are jetting off to England tomorrow. We'll be in London over the weekend and then travel west to Cornwall to hike around in the picturesquity that is southern England for six days. Is gooood!
After that we'll probably stay in Bath for a few days, which I haven't seen since I studied there back in 2003 (wow..). Walking around the streets I once plodded through daily again will be a mixture of weird and nice, I believe.

That should do in my anglophile-itch for 2008!

Blogging will be non-existent. Promise to write a lot about it all when I get back, if anyone's interested!

Till then

completely, totally and utterly enjoying summer
imagine how it is possible from year to year to forget how blissful it is, only to be touched deeply once again
the smells, the light, the air the water, the strawberries, oh my the STRAWBERRIES

short but sweet dress wishlist

The first is from Forever 21, which we don't have here, so I'm hoping to maybe be lucky enough for it to still be in the stores when I'm in Canada in a few weeks - long shot though I think.

The second is Stella McCartney and so probably very expensive. Powder pink pretty though. And a nice mixture between ballet and gladiator.

Obsession

I have developed this fascination with chinese dragons - I find myself sketching them whenever I can.

Chinese Dragon

To the Chinese, the Imperial Dragon or Lung, is considered to be the primary of four benevolent spiritual animals, the other three being the phoenix, the unicorn and the tortoise. Having unrivaled wizdom and power the dragon symbolized the Emperors of China themselves, who were actually called dragons. Hsi, China's first emperor, was said to have a dragon's tail. Shen Nung, his successor was supposed to have been fathered by a dragon. The Chinese Emperor sat on a dragon throne, rode in a dragon boat and slept in a dragon bed. To distinguish the chinese imperial dragon from all other dragons, only the Imprial Dragon bore five claws.

Physiology

The Nine Entities (parts) of A Chinese Dragon

The dragons are said to be made up of many different types of animals of the Earth:

Head: Camel

Scales: Carp (fish) 117 scales total - 81 infused with yang, the good, and 36 infused with yin the bad. This evens out the dragons temper and personality.
Horns: Giant Stag (deer)
Eyes: hare (rabbit)
Ears: Bull
Neck: Snake
Belly: Clam
Paws: Tigers
Claws: Eagle
I find that knowing what inspired the body parts makes it easier to draw the beautiful beasts!

Afsted, afsted.

blue under blue

Jim Culleny

We were sitting on a bench under blue
under the bush of a willow admiring her garden when
I saw an Indigo Bunting but didn't know it when I did.

Look, I said,
a bluebird on the wall!

No, the fabulous near-turquoise of it,
its deep and tiny beyond-blueness makes it
an Indigo Bunting,
 she said, if it's
anything at all.

It hopped, mysterious as one of the angels some say exist
and took off fluttering more beautifully than
the idea of fluttering

fluttering for real

took off into wisteria
like the idea of flying
(cubed at least).

Who thought that up, the flying?
-not to mention the wisteria,

I said. Truth is

that's what we were both feeling
just then, seeing an Indigo Bunting
so blue under blue under willow
from our bench.

Mais oui, attack le mur

when I had watched this tantalizing clip from Betty Blue I had to see it all over again, the mood is so fantastic.
I'll have to find the film in its full length somehow

*indforstået* - Er det mig, eller ligner Agyness Deyn en blanding af Amalie og Chaca?

... og det er ikke dårligt!

Jacuzzi i stuen

This might only make sense to very selct few (i.e. the two of us) but my friend N and I developed this expression many years ago, for when you were looking really tired and droopy eyed, most likely hung-over, and with your hair loose making you look even more sad and washed out, but also quite amusing. Then you were 'jacuzzi in the living room' which will be a tad complicated to explain the exact reason for, but had to do with a tv-commercial where this afghan dog (At least that is what the race is called in Danish - you know the type with the long straight fur) said something about it being cool to have a jacuzzi in the living room .. hmm..

anywho: these pictures of Hair Hats by japanese artist Nagi Noda just gave this a whole new and more glamorous slash slightly creepy air

Thaats it - it's settled - I'm staying in

Can't believe it took me till now to finally decide

And of course I haven't been anywhere near effective enough today, very much due to my trying to decide whether to go out or not - UUGGHH

Oh well, this cheered me up!

.. and just you wait! 11 days from now I'll be unstoppable!! Mom, how many times do I have to sleep? Too many still, but it'll be well worth the hiatus.

Send Nôze a blow-kiss from me

and thank you very much for 'the feet!' Carlen

Is this a test?!

oh deary me, how unfair.

Nôze is playing at Rust tonight and I have to read like a hundred pages again tomorrow..
What in the world to do!

If you read this, please go and see them, then at least I will know someone else had the pleasure, and a review will be recieved with the greatest gratitude.

.. and who knows, maybe I'll succumb and be there myself after all ..
