Copenhagen is so cold at the moment that the other day when I had to brave the distance from Nørrebro and home, I actually considered joining the pidgins on one of the steaming man holes just to warm up for the rest of my journey.

nu med peberspray
Another jewelry post.. I love this hand cuff bracelet from kiki de montparnasse. Luckily for my budget, they're sold out.

I cannot get my head around anything more demanding tonight. My head spins with arabic after a hefty day of cramming - at least it was in the delightful company of I and B and included heavy snacking, otherwise it would have made for a sad sunday.
Had been planning to write about the surprisingly well thought out and thought provoking comments on Information's website to an article about the danes being religious illiterates that really vexed me and my religion allergies - but that will have to wait.
I'm too knackered even for watching 'the curious case of benjamin buttom', though I had been looking forward to that all day.
Two more sleeps till I'm free

pfft prrr aaah
This song is so shock full of good
memories, I'm all bubbly inside now.
Never saw the video till today though.
Quirky/cute
I know I've got issues, but you're pretty messed up too, anyway I found out, I'm nothing without you
I know I've raved about her stuff before and I'll say it again - I love Pamela Love.
I would wear every piece - and at once, too!
The eerie and slightly creepy, village witch's amulet-ishness of them is fantastic.

two of my dearest friends left this week, for taking a semester in the great abroad.
Even though I really truly cherish all the great things that await them, I also miss them horribly already.
It'll be a busy spring saving up for visiting them.
All the best, my doves.

the desired
soon, my love enleatherated...

I have been pining for this Alexander Wang bag for more than a year. Now it looks as if we will be united in a foreseeable future.
My old bag, or bags if you count all the pieces it is in nowadays, is really in need of a well deserved otium.
Mine will look like the two pictures below, though I also like the chunky chain of the top one which is a different collection.
ohohoh
I know it is perhaps a little untimely and snarky telling you this now since it took place ages ago, but I actually ordered this bag from Satine Boutique (.com).
My payment went through, my receipt arrived in my inbox - and then they write to tell me that the price has just gone up 147$ and ask whether I would prefer to cough up the extra amount or have my money back.
I'm sorry, but I really think that is poor service.
Of course they can do that knowing for certain that someone else on the waiting list will gladly take it if I don't, which just makes it even more infuriating.
I guess that is one pitfall to web shopping, where the (otherwise nice) girl who I corresponded with doesn't have to look me in the eye when she tells me she wants what I just rightfully bought back to re-sell it at a steeper price.

lad os sige det, som det er
Der er nu få ting så forfriskende på en søndag som en råt-for-usødet og yderst Metz'k retorisk fuldtræffer:
Det er det, man kalder halsbrand i røven."
- Georg Metz' Intermezzo i Information, weekend 17.-18. januar.

well, I got the fever down in my pockets
strolling along the lake

this weekend has consisted of such glorious good times, I hate for it to end and even untimely as I have to get some reading done today already.
No feels like it, though.
Still grateful for yesterday that was celebrated with a long hangover walk around the lakes - coffee and chocolate in hand, giggling all the way - with Amalie, lovely tasty cooking session with D, cinema with my niece and finally dancing and seeing people I've sorely missed at Culture Box, before going home and preparing dough for freshly baked rolls, for us to have this morning, in a mild vodka-club soda rush.
The film we saw was the Swedish vampire film Let the right one in.
It was not only the best film I've seen in I can't remember how long, I was also scared out of my mind! Everybody had insistently said it wasn't frightening, just different and beautiful - and that it sure was, but we also had myositis in our arms from holding hands so vigorously and forgetting to breath for minutes on end.
I'm not usually such a chicken but the underplayed suspense was killing me.
Breathtaking images with subdued colours of earthy and blue tones with the occational saturated splash of crimson red!
The two children playing the main characters did so well it ws almost unsettling.
Do go see.

wondrously protracted sleep
I just read in the Cambridge History of Arabic Literature this passage:
"The story of the "Men of the Cave" (Ashab al-Kahf, as the Seven Sleepers are called in the Qur'an) goes back to the legend of the seven young Christians who escaped the persecutions of Emperor Decius (A. D. 249-51) by seeking refuge in a cave, where they fell into a wondruosly protracted sleep. In the Qur'an the length of the sleep is given as 309 years. In the discussion about the number of sleepers involved their dog is included for some strange reason." (p. 210)
Then I realized, I have been there! - or at least in the cave allegedly claimed to be it, of course - on our visit to the Deir Marmousa in the Syrian desert last autumn.

demo for a decent Denmark
haven't had time for the paper these last few days.
Just as well perhaps. Got around to reading it today and now I litterally feel physically ill.
Danish Folk Party suggesting that we claim the right to circumvent the human rights in cases involving immigrants?
This must be one of the utmost low points so far in the history of this merciless little country.
Hope to see you this saturday at the demo for a decent Denmark at Christiansborg Slotsplads at four.
Or, on second thought, I hope not to see you due to the massive amount of people hopefully backing this up.

with golden and green light, slanting through Their heaven of many a tangled hue
the shamelessly lush and decadent visual fairy tale that is this steve meisel editorial for Italian VOGUE from 2007 still takes my breath away.
I mean, wowawiwa - 'scuse me while I writh and pout in luscious patterns, tats, pin-up-esque hair and gothic make-up as if there's no tomorrow, why don'cha.

the great ship seems splitting ! it cracks like a tree
According to an article on modkraft.dk, a report from the American senate has finally recognized president George Bush, Richard Cheney and Codoleezza Rice as guilty of war crimes.
Better late than never, I have to say.
You could rightly ask: isn't everyone engaging in war a war criminal? - But this report focuses mostly on the methods used in interrogation of prisoners under American custody and the fact that the obligations towards the Geneva Convention has been grossly circumvented.
Most of the facts compiled in the report were already out and known to the public but modkraft's article says that "the gathering of the information in a report that is approved by a not-disagreeing senate committee, is of crucial importance."
Let's hope of crushing consequence as well.
My cousin reminded me only a few days ago that the torture method of simulated drowning (! FFS) known as 'waterboarding', which is one of the offenses Mr. Cheney has openly admitted to having green-lighted, was something America used to hang Germans for having performed after WW2.
How quickly history is forgotten.
Perhaps it isn't coincidental that no less than four Nazi/Hitler/WW2 related films are coming up this year. Let's hope they are good. The world seems to need reminding.

duserne
we sold our aquarium yesterday. It's gone and only a slightly lighter area on the floor in it's corner reveals that it ever existed.
hence this ode to the most beautiful yet also moistest and most energy consuming piece of furniture we ever had.
take good care of duserne, nice stranger. Live wet and well little ones.
